Emily Smaha - Instructor/Owner:
Emily's parents enrolled her in Scottish Highland dance in North Carolina when she was six years old and she was immediately hooked. She entered her first competition a few months later and was thrilled to win the trophy. It did not diminish her excitement that she was the only competitor in her age group.
Over the years, Emily's involvement with competitive Highland dance led her all over the United States and on two amazing trips to Scotland. She was fortunate to develop close friendships with an amazing group of people she considers her extended family.
She and her husband moved to Maine in 2008 and she decided it was the perfect opportunity to share her passion for Scottish culture with the Southern Maine community.
Emily is a Scottish Highland dance instructor certified through the British Association of Teachers of Dance. She is a patient teacher who focuses on developing well-rounded dancers by working on all aspects of athletic training: strength, technique, endurance and flexibility.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, camping, paddling, and just about any other outdoor adventure. She and her husband welcomed a new baby in January, 2011. She is a Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide and she works in the outdoor recreation industry.
